Our first destination was University of California, Berkeley where our niece, Mira, is a freshman. (Lower left of image, next to Ann). Mira took us on a tour of the campus which included climbing the hills overlooking UCB and the town of Berkeley. San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge could be seen in the distance.

Our hike continued to the UBC Botanical Garden which featured cacti and other desert plants from all over the globe. Along the way we had several great restaurant meals, including Chinese food, Tibetan Dal, Thai Satay and North Indian Dosas (like a crêpe with spicy dipping sauces).
